The Founder's Journey: Expertise Forged in Purpose
More than a Decade of Authentic Design: Why We Know the Ground.
My professional path is deeply rooted in destination management and strategic product development, built over more than a decade in the travel industry.
It began in the karst landscapes of Yangshuo, China, where I led Chinese language students on outdoor adventures and first discovered the transformative power of cultural immersion. From there, I joined a family-run adventure tour operator in Northern Thailand, managing logistics for student groups focused on outdoor pursuits and community service. These early experiences taught me the value of hands-on operations, meaningful engagement, and authentic guest experiences.
I later broadened my expertise in more corporate settings — first with a globally operating Destination Management Company (DMC) based in Asia, and then with a Regional Tourism Organisation (RTO) in New Zealand. In both roles, I focused on shaping and promoting purposeful, high-quality travel experiences. My own extensive exploration across Oceania and Asia has only deepened my understanding of these regions and their potential to inspire.
This background in conscious, community-driven travel led me to believe the industry needed a fundamental shift — one that prioritises integrity over incentives.
That’s why Woven Journeys operates differently.
We work through a Design Retainer model — not simply a fee, but a statement of integrity. By compensating us directly for 20–40+ hours of independent research, ethical vetting, and custom itinerary design, you ensure our loyalty lies entirely with you and the positive impact of your journey — not with supplier commissions.

Returning home to Aotearoa New Zealand, and seeing the world through the eyes of a mother, intensified my focus on legacy and true value. This purpose is woven into everything we do:
